Proteas

The Protea Farm

Protea farming done with great care

We are also a working protea farm which specializes in the growing of numerous kinds of proteas for our beautiful bouquettes for exporting.

Many species range in size as well as having distinct flower variations in the colour and shape of their cone. The name Protea originates from the Greek Legend of Proteus, a Greek God who could change his form at will. This seems appropriate given the significant variations of form within the Protea family. Proteas form the taller canopy in South African Fynbos vegetation, often growing 3 to 4 metres high. Protea nectar attracts birds, bees and insects, all vital to the natural ecosystem.
